One of our customers used combined families for hospital equipment and contacted us to ask how he could separate them in an efficient way? It's not possible to copy/paste between family and project and recreating them manually would take a very long time.
Workflow
The current version of the Break Up Families application will;
- Process a pre-selected family,
- Find the loaded families (those which are Shared) inside,
- Recreate them in the current project,
- If they have instance parameters such as length and height these will be set,
- Delete the shared families from the family,
- Load a new version of the same family (with a slightly different name),
- Place the cleaned family in the project - with the remaining elements such as lines and geometry
- Available for Revit 2022 - 2026
Please Note
Level based Shared Families will work best, families hosted by surfaces or reference planes will most likely not be placed correctly in the project. Mirrored and complicated nested families will probably cause issues. Please be careful and verify results.
You can ignore the warning about Duplicate Elements - that'll be improved in due time...
